The original recipe Panna cotta, is an Italian dessert made by simmering together cream, milk and sugar, mixing this with gelatin, and letting it cool until set. An Italian phrase which literally means "cooked cream", appeared in Woman's Day and is not labor intense. It is so similar to our custard that Maw Maw added the recipe as part of the Nouveau Cajun. This was a big hit at a recent dinner party.

In Italian cuisine, it is traditionally made fresh (either at home or commercially), but dried versions also exist on the market. A popular fettuccine dish in North America is fettuccine Alfredo and Cajun Fettuccine!

They both liked it, I just tasted some, it's very good, but I think the gravy needs to be reduced for eating it down south here with rice. Corn Flakes - one of the origial cold cereals makes this dish a winner. Corn, used to make corn flakes, is one of the most widely grown crops in the USA. Only about 10% of the corn grown ends up on the dinner table as a side dish, while over 50% of it is used for livestock feed. A great party dip to serve with crackers or chips. Rice and crawfish are two staple food of the Cajuns. The rice stubble/chaf is the prime source of food for crawfish. The crawfish crop is raised in rotation with rice crop. Crawfish farming began in the 1960s. Before then, crawfish were caught in the wild. With the spread in popularity of Cajun cooking, crawfish farming expanded to become an industry that nets Louisiana between $25 million to $45 million per year. Crawfish season begins in the fall when farmers flood their ponds. Harvesting begins as early as November and continues until summer. The same chemicals that give tart cherries their color may relieve pain better than aspirin and ibuprofen in humans. Does this mean that every time I have a headache I should eat cherry pie? Today, in Michigan alone, there are almost 4 million cherry trees that annually produce 150 to 200 pounds of tart cherries. It takes about 250 cherries to make a cherry pie. Eating about 20 tart cherries a day could reduce inflammatory pain and headache pain. Lemons contain more sugar than strawberries. Lemon trees bloom and produce fruit year-round. Each tree can produce between 500 and 600 pounds of lemons in a year. California and Arizona produce 95% of the entire U.S. lemon crop.

Yes Brenda knows this..... I will agree these fried shrimp are as good and tasty as any restaurant fried shrimp. Lookout - my Fry Daddy is coming out!

To get this recipe I had to beg and rely on a memory! Kaplan's finest and some older softball players, the Jr Bucs and Lady Bucs, recently reunited. This pasta dish was one of the the "hits" of this baseball reunion. The cleats and gloves that had been hung up years ago came off the shelf that night, if only in spirit. The fun and comaradie shared on the playing field magically returned. Reunions are so much fun!

Here is a fun fact about what cararmel is - Cooking a sugar syrup to the point where all the water has evaporated and the sugar begins to burn results in caramel. The sugar begins to colour when it reaches about 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Caramel can also be made by the dry method, where no water is added before cooking. This is a faster method as it eliminates the evaporating time but requires more attention to avoid burning. Caramel sauce is made with the addition of whipping cream and butter. ... Now this question arises - How many of us have lost a filling to caramel candy? No eating this pie won't cause that; it will actually make you want seconds! The flavor reminds you of Bayou Goo!

A quick hot summer day treat made with pineapple. From the USDA here is a fun fact on HOW DO PINEAPPLES GROW? Most fruits develop in 3 to 4 months, but pineapples take about 18 months to grow! Pineapples are grown from the crowns or tops of other pineapples. Each crown is planted by hand. When the plants are one year old the flowering process begins. The flower bud is small and pink, and looks like a pinecone. As the bud grows it will become the fruit we know as a pineapple. Pineapples are harvested when they are ripe. Every pineapple that is harvested is ready to eat. To ensure they are picked at their peak of maturity for ripeness and flavor, the sugar content of pineapple is tested in the field.
