Pudding Filling for Sweet Dough Tarts or Pies

This can be used for pudding pies or basis tart filing.


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg yolk beaten


Step 1

Mix the sugar, cornstarch and salt. Combine the milk, vanilla and egg yolk. Combine the two in a medium saucepan and cook over low medium heat until the mixture thickens. Pour into favorite pie crust.

You may add 1/4 cup cocoa to dry ingredients for chocolate. Also, feel free to add coconut to filling or whatever flavor you may like.
