Myrtle’s Pecan Pie

Amanda writes: “My grandmother and mother made this pecan pie at Thanksgiving and Christmas.” Such a traditional Cajun favorite.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cup Karo syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups pecans (halves or chopped)
  • 1 unbaked pie shell

Directions

Step 1

Mix sugar, eggs and Karo thoroughly. Stir in vanilla and pecans and pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

Mawmaw adds: brushing your pie shell before with egg white before pouring the batter in will help keep the crust from becoming too soggy.
