Mom-Mom’s Tarts

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup shortening, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • Extra flour for rolling out tarts

Directions

Step 1

Cream the sugar and eggs. Add the shortening and mix well.

Step 2

Stir in the milk, the nutmeg, and then the flour one cup at a time along with the baking powder until dough is firm. Refrigerate overnight.

Step 3

Make your tart using a floured surface; adding your filling of choice. There are several recipes for tart filling on the website.

Step 4

Transfer to a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper and bake for about 18 minutes at 350 degrees or until light brown. Remove and cool on racks.
