Lena’s Old Fashion Bread Pudding

This recipe belonged to our friend Lena Bertrand. There was hardly a birthday or holiday that she didn’t make her bread pudding. Everyone loved it. This is in memory of Lena from her friend and co-worker at Kaplan State Bank, Cynthia Abshire

Ingredients

  • 12 slices old bread
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 large can pet milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla flavoring
  • 1 can condensed milk

Directions

Step 1

Mix all ingredients together except the condensed milk and bake for 45 minutes in a buttered 9x13 casserole dish at 450 degrees.

Step 2

Pour 1 can condensed milk over bread pudding when it comes out of the oven.

Blueberry schnappes or ameretto can be added to the condensed milk. I also add 1 tsp. vanilla to the condensed milk.
