Custard Filing – Coconut Bouillie Custard (Porridge)

This old fashioned custard can be used to make custard pie, sweet tart filling, banana pudding and just plain eating by itself with sugar on it. Add coconut, if you’re a fan. Le bon tourtes douces!

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in water. Add in the milk, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Transfer to a saucepan and cook slowly until the pudding thickens. It will have the consistency of custard.

Step 2

Cool and use as needed in pie shells and for sweet dough tarts; add banana flavoring to make banana pudding.

To make coconut custard, after removing from the heat add 1 cup shredded coconut.
