Buttermilk Biscuits

A classic light and fluffy biscuit recipe for buttermilk lovers.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup shortening or Crisco butter
  • 1/4 tsp soda
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Step 2

Sift flour once, measure and sift again with salt, soda and baking powder.

Step 3

Cut in the shortening, then add milk gradually to form a soft dough.

Step 4

Turn out onto lightly floured board, roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.

Step 5

Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
