Kaplan and Katrina

I found some international news that talks about our hometown of Kaplan, population 5,000. They pronounce a couple things wrong (Touchet is Too Chet, not Too Shay. Dubois is Doo Bwah not Doobwah. Lafayette is Laffy ette not LahFahYette) but other than that, it’s a nice article. They are talking about how Kaplan is coming to the aid of Hurricane Survivors. We got barely a drop of rain last week and so now we are helping those affected by the Hurricane.

In the provided autio file, you can clearly hear a couple Kaplan accents. You’ll notice, or at least I do, that each of thier accents are different. The man from Kaplan has a heavier Cajun French accent than the woman. Click on the audio link on the following webpage: Kaplan on VOA News

As for the way the gross incompetence of the federal government left the Gulf Coast practically abandoned; I am truly at a loss for words.
