Praline Sauce Topping
This is a quick and easy topping for virtually any cake or bread pudding with brown sugar, butter, and pecans. Makes topping for a 9-inch square or 13x9 inch cake.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Swans Down Cake Flour
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix together all ingredients in a bowl until well combined.
  3. Spread carefully, a small amount at a time, over hot cake in pan. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes until bubbly and golden. Cool and cut cake in pan.

Tips and Techniques

This topping works best on warm cake - the heat helps it spread and creates a better caramelized finish. Don’t try to spread it all at once; add small spoonfuls and spread gently.
