Holiday Fruit Salad
This is what I was always in charge of for every holiday for as long as I remember. I always wanted to help mom in the kitchen, and this is the creation I would always come out with! Made with bananas, mandarin oranges, strawberries, peach pie filling, and pineapple chunks, it’s so good!

Ingredients

12 servings
  • 2 - 3 bananas
  • 1 can mandarin oranges
  • 1 package frozen strawberries
  • 1 can peach pie filling
  • 1 can pineapple chunks

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Drain the mandarin oranges and the pineapple chunks, and thaw the strawberries.
  2. Slice the bananas and mix all the fruit together with the peach pie filling.
  3. Chill when finished and take out when you’re ready to eat it.

Common Problems and Solutions

Q: Why does my fruit salad get watery?

A: Make sure to thoroughly drain the mandarin oranges and pineapple chunks. Pat them dry with paper towels if needed. Don't add the bananas too far in advance as they release moisture.

Q: Can I make this ahead?

A: Yes, but add the bananas within a few hours of serving so they don't brown. The rest of the salad can be mixed the night before.

Tips and Techniques

For the prettiest presentation, slice the bananas just before serving to keep them from browning. If you must make it ahead, toss the banana slices in a little lemon or pineapple juice to slow browning.
