Dean's Tres Groovy Granola

- 5 cups oatmeal
- 1 cup sunflower kernels
- 1/2 cup powdered milk
- 1/2 jar wheat germ
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 cup honey
- various almonds and or sesame
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250-275°F.
- Dump oatmeal into a roasting pan.
- Pour the powdered milk, honey and oil on top of the oatmeal.
- Add the wheat germ, sunflower kernels, and nuts/seeds (almonds and/or sesame) and stir up until everything is well combined.
- Spread evenly and bake in the low oven for 35 to 45 minutes until lightly browned, stirring every 10 to 15 minutes to ensure even browning.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely. The granola will crisp up as it cools.
- Serve over cold milk or enjoy as a snack.
Tips and Techniques
Stir the granola every 10-15 minutes during baking to prevent burning and ensure even browning. The granola may seem soft when you remove it from the oven, but it will crisp up as it cools completely.
