One of the original cold cereals makes this layered dessert a winner. Crushed corn flakes mixed with cinnamon and brown sugar create a sweet, crunchy crust and topping for creamy vanilla pudding. Chill for one hour and you’ve got yourself a simple pleasure that’s pure nostalgia.

Ingredients

9 squares servings
  • 4 cups corn flakes, crushed
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 (3 3/4 oz) box instant vanilla pudding

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Combine cereal with sugar, cinnamon and butter. Reserve 1/2 cup of mixture. Press remaining cereal mixture into bottom of eight-inch square pan.
  2. Prepare pudding as directed on package. Pour over cereal and top with reserved cereal mixture.
  3. Chill for one hour; cut in squares and serve. Such a simple pleasure!

Tips and Techniques

Use a flat-bottomed glass or measuring cup to press the cereal mixture evenly into the pan. This creates a sturdy base that won’t crumble when you cut the squares.
