Bourbon Chicken via Oven

Ingredients
4
servings
- 4 boneless and skinless chicken breast halves
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 can cream of celery soup
- 2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup bourbon whiskey
- Salt and pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place chicken breast halves in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl combine the cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup and shredded mozzarella cheese and mix together until well blended. Pour mixture evenly over chicken breasts, then pour melted butter over top. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and season with salt and pepper to taste. Pour bourbon whiskey evenly over all.
- Bake in the preheated 350 degree F oven for 1 hour, or until chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165 degrees F) and breadcrumb topping is golden brown.
Tips and Techniques
The bourbon adds a subtle sweetness and depth of flavor but doesn’t make the dish boozy since the alcohol cooks off during the hour-long baking time. For extra flavor, you can sauté the chicken breasts in a skillet until golden before placing them in the baking dish.
