A teacake or tea cake is defined by Wikipedia.com as a "name commonly used for whatever bread or cake traditionally served for afternoon tea within a region, but can be applied loosely to any kind of cake that is sturdy enough to be picked up with the fingers. Teacake is normally not frosted " This teacake recipe fits that description and is this family's favorite anticipated Christmas cookie; described as a crunchy sugar dusted nut ball...

Ingredients
1 cup butter (room temperature) 1/2 cup confection sugar
2 1/4 cup sifted Gold Medal flour 1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla 3/4 cup finely chopped nuts

Directions
Combine all ingredients. Form into one inch balls and bake at 400 degrees (moderate hot oven) for 14 to 17 minutes until light golden brown.
