A terrific treat anytime of the year. Or try these instead of pumpkin pie. Try them once and they soon wil become a family classic.

Ingredients
3 cups sugar 1 cup liquid shortening
2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla
5 cups flour 1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder 2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp nutmeg 2 tsp cinnamon
1 large can pumpkin 12 ounces chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions
In a large glass bowl combine the sugar, shortening and eggs.

Sift the dry ingredients together (flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon).

Using a mixer, combine the pumpkin and flour mixture alternately to the liquid mixture.

With a spoon now mix well the chocolate chips and nuts into the mixture.

Drop by teaspoonful onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
