Mel says "A fast and yummy way to a big ole plate of fake beignets! Fool all of your friends when they come visit!"

Ingredients
1 package buscuits 1.5 cups oil
powdered sugar

Directions
Pour oil into a skillet and start warming it up over medium heat (about 360 degrees).

Open the thing of buttermilk or flaky biscuits (Mel prefers Grands Buttermilk. I prefer regular sized flaky -- it's much easier to fry) and cut each biscuit into half diagonally. Next, cut a 1 inch slit into each biscuit.

By this time the oil should be ready but you can test it by placing a small pice of dough into the oil. If it bubbles around the edges, the oil is ready.

Place 6-7 pieces of dough into the oil being sure to keep an eye on them so that they don't burn. The biscuits cook very quickly so you should continually flip them until golden brown.

Drain beignets on a paper towel, place on seperate plate and throw a lot of some powdered sugar on top. Enjoy this poodoo Kaplan treat.
