These sugar coated pecans are popular in many cultures and look like they have a meringue icing. Put in a pretty tin and they make a great anytime treat or gift.

Ingredients
1 pound pecan halves 3 egg whites
1 cup sugar 1/2 cup butter
dash of salt

Directions
Toast pecans at 325degrees until light brown.

Beat egg whites until frothy. Add sugar and beat until stiff.

Fold in nuts.

Melt butter in 10X15X1 inch jelly roll pan.

Spread nut mixture over butter and bake at 325 for 30 minutes.
Watch them carefully; they are easy to burn.

Stir carefully every 10 minutes until light brown (Note most of the pecans will really have a grayish color).

Keep in a closed container or tin.

Scale this recipe to servings.
