When Mom Myrtis makes this recipe she always doubles it. Why because she laughs and says "One is never enough!". |
| |
| Ingredients |
| 1 pint chopped-smashed fig preserves with syrup |
1 tsp baking powder |
| 1 egg |
1 tsp vanilla |
| 1/2 cup salad oil or 1 block butter |
1 cup flour plus 3 tablespoon |
| 1/2 tsp salt |
1/2 tsp soda |
| 1 tsp nutmeg or more to your taste |
1 tsp cinnamon or more to suit your taste |
|
| | | Directions | Combine all dry ingredients together - baking powder, flour, salt, soda, nutmeg and cinnamon. Combine figs, butter (Mom Myrtis uses butter for her recipe) and egg. Add the dry ingredients gradually to the wet ingredients.
Pour into a well greased 9x13 pan, bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. A done cake will have a toothpick inserted in the middle coming out clean. |
