Meringue Icing for Cakes
Ingredients
2 egg whites
3 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp vanilla
Directions
Preheat oven between 325 to 350 degrees.
Whip egg whites until frothy.
Add 1/4 tsp cream of tartar. Whip until stiff and not dry and until the mixture stand in peaks. The peaks will lean over slightly when the beaters are removed.
Add 1/2 tsp at a time either 3 tbsp of granulated sugar or 4 tbsp of powdered sugar. Add the vanilla.
Do not overbeat. Bake 10 to 15 minutes depending on the thickness of the meringue.
