Lemon Bread - gāteau de lemo - gāteau de citron
Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs slightly beaten
13/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup nuts
Topping
grated peel of one lemon
1/4 cup sugar
Directions
Cream the shortening, sugar and eggs. Add the remaining ingredients except the topping ingredients of lemon juice and sugar. Pour into a greased loaf pan; bake at 350 degrees for one hour. While bread is baking, mix the sugar and the juice of one lemon. Remove bread from oven and pour topping over loaf.
