I had forgotten about this old favorite recipe. When my children were younger this was a fast treat and great for holiday candy. The shoestring potatoes gives this candy its' haystack effect. They are also known as Easy Chocolate Drops or Chip Stick Peanut Candy. Another reader writes: These candies are great for school functions and giving as gifts for Christmas. The recipe can be doubled or tripled. All the kids love chocolate and the butter scotch chips give the candy a tastful addition. Can be done in the microwave or in a double boiler on top of the stove.

Ingredients
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips 6 oz 1 cup butterscotch chips 6 oz
1 cup shoestring potato sticks 1 cups salted peanuts
As an option try the sweet potato sticks

Directions
In a 2 quart microwave safe bowl, heat chips on high for 2 minutes or until melted. Stir at least once during the melting process. Stir in the potato sticks and peanuts.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper or parchment lined cookie sheets. Chill until set about 15 minutes.

Store in an airtight container.

Another author wrote: If you choose to use on the stove use a double boiler for best results. You may add any chocolate chip you like or nuts of your choice. The candies need to chill 15 minutes. You can store them in nice containers as gifts or enjoy them right away! Its kid friendly and they can make these on their own without much supervision.
