My good friend Champ shared this recipe with me. He sometimes would bake this for me at Christmas.

Ingredients
2 cups flour 1 1/2 tsp EACH of ginger, allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg
1 tsp soda 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 pound EACH of butter, brown sugar, dates and raisins 1/2 cup Steen's syrup
6 eggs 1 pint figs
1 pound mixed fruits 1 pound chopped pecans

Directions
In a large glass bowl, mix flour, spices, and sugars together until well blended. melt butter in saucepan.

Add the butter, eggs and syrup to the flour; blending well.

Then add the figs, dates and raisins; mix well.

Add the mixed fruits; mix well.

Add pecans as the last item. mix well.

In an 8 inch pan (the Wilton pan withthe hole in the middle was used), spray and coat the pan with Baker's Joy Cooking spray.

Put a pan of water on the bottom rack of the oven while baking the fruit cakes to keep it moist.

Bake at 250 degrees for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until a toothpick comes out clean.
