A note from this recipe dated June 1998. Used this recipe all my adult life.

Ingredients
2 cups sugar 4 eggs
4 tsp baking powder 1 tsp soda
1 1/4 cup milk 1 cup margarine or butter
8 cups flour or as needed to make dough stiff nutmeg to taste
1 tsp vanilla

Directions
Cream the sugar and eggs. Add the remaining ingredients. Roll out on a floured surface (grandma likes to roll her out in a mixture of sugar, flour, cinnamon and sugar) and cut into 4 to 5 inch circle. Fill with your favorite filling such as fig, blackberry, bouille, pineapple, sweet potato, all of which are on our website. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until lightly brown. Do not overcook as tarts will harden. Store in a covered container.
Make fig bars with this sweet dough. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness and place on a sheet pan. In a food processor puree the figs in a food processor or use a pastry blender to puree. Spread over the dough and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. Cool slightly then cut into bars.
