As a young mother, I was given this recipe. It is truly wonderful.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cup sugar 2 cups flour
2 eggs 1 large can fruit cocktail with liquid
1 tsp vanilla 2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup pecans Icing
1 stick oleo, margarine or butter 3/4 cup sugar
1/2 can canned evaporated milk 1/2 cup pecans

Directions
Cake: In a large mixing bowl, mix the sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla, soda, salt, and the fruit cocktail. Pour into a greased and floured sheet pan. Top with brown sugar and pecans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Icing: In a sauce pan combine the margarine, sugar and canned milk and cook for 2 minutes. Add the 1/2 cup pecans. Let it turn stiff and spread over cooled cake.

Scale this recipe to servings.
