There are two kinds of palm trees. The trees close to the ocean that make coconuts and the trees in the desert that make dates. Dates are what are used to create these treats that are great for holiday baking.

Ingredients
3/4 cup flour 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt 1 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted margarine 2 eggs well beaten
1 cup chopped walnuts 1 package 8 oz dates chopped

Directions
In a medium glass bowl, mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Add sugar and mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine butter and eggs. Add to the flour mixture and beat until smooth. Blend in the nuts and dates.

Pour into greased 9x9x2 pan. Bake 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Cut into bars while warm. Yields about 24 bars
