Sugar cane is a popular crop in Southern Louisiana. The climate is perfect with the exception that it is a year when crop growers experience a hurricane. It is from this crop that cane syrup is made. Outside of the south there is not much cane syrup produced although England has it's own version.
Ingredients
5 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
2 cups cane syrup
1 stick margarine or butter
1 tbsp flour
1 unbaked pie shell 9 inches
Directions
In a medium pan or microwave, melt the butter/margarine. In a medium bowl, mix the butter sugar and eggs.
Add to the mixture the syrup, flour and spices. Beat until smooth.
Pour into an unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour until the crust is brown and the mixture thickens.
