Most people have had dried figs (especially in fig newtons!), but fresh figs are a real treat especially when used in a fig cake - la gāteau de figue! |
| |
| Ingredients |
| 1 1/2 cup sugar |
1 1/2 cup figs |
| 3 eggs |
1 stick butter |
| 1 tsp baking soda |
2 tsp baking powder |
| 3 cups flour |
1 cup pecans optional |
| 1/2 cup raisins optional |
| |
| | | Directions | | Cream eggs, sugar and butter. Add flour, one cup at a time. Blend in the baking powder, figs, nuts, raisins, and soda. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 pan. Bake at cake temperature (350 to 400) for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Mmm I can smell it now! |
