My children loved this very simple, easy to prepare dish. It is best suited with stews and gumbos.
Ingredients
1 fresh cabbage, small head
1/2 cup vinegar (low acidic)
1/4 cup water
Directions
Cut cabbage head in half. Take a chef's knife, hold against the head and finely slice the cabbage. It will look like straw when done. Combine the vinegar and water. I find the least expensive off-brand vinegar taste the best. Pour over the cabbage. Depending on the yield of the cabbage, you can adjust the liquid. You want the cabbage coated but not swimming in it. Add black pepper and salt to taste. Combine with hands and mix all ingredients thoroughly. Goes great with gumbos or stews.
