We had a request for butter roll? Excerpts of the request read "Mom use to make it. She put sugar and butter, and roll it up. I don't know what else. Well, I think she used to bake it.
It has a crust like peach cobbler."
After doing a search, we found this recipe posted by Kristi on a forum at www.texasmonthly.com. She wrote "Growing up, my favorite dessert was a recipe of my great-gradmother's that she called "Butter Rolls." |

| Ingredients |
| Rolls |
1 can bisquits |
| sugar |
butter |
| ````````````````````````````````` |
Sauce |
| 2 cups milk |
1/2 tsp cloves (to taste) |
| 1/4 cup flour |
1 cup sugar (to taste) |
|
| | | Directions | Roll out each bisquit to 4" or 5" in diameter on a floured
surface. Drop a teaspoon (not exact measurement) of butter and of sugar into the center of each bisquit. Bring the four corners of the dough together in the center and pinch together tightly. Bake according to the instructions on the bisquit can.
The butter will melt inside the roll and carmelize the sugar.
The excess butter will run out into the pan. Make your sauce and pour over all rolls in the same pan in which they were baked.
For the sauce place the flour, sugar and cloves in a saucepan.
(You can adjust the sugar and clove amounts to your own personal taste.)
Take the 2 cups of milk and microwave for 5-6 minutes on high or until boiling. (Milk won't scorch in the microwave and this helps in making the sauce a little more user friendly to make.) Remove from microwave and gradually pour in the saucepan with dry ingredients using a whisk to evenly blend the dry ingredients with the liquid. Cook over low heat until thick (stir constantly so as not to scorch the bottom of the pan). Once sauce is thick, pour over rolls.
These are absolutely delictable warm, but they are really good
the next day when the cloves have had a chance to really take effect. They should be refrigerated and can be warmed in the microwave.
