Adapted from southerfood.com, this brown sugar sauce is great on bread pudding, fruit, pound cake, coffee cakes and ice cream. We eat at a Cajun restaurant that serves the most delicious sauce over it's bread pudding. The cook gave me all the ingredients. Absolutley the best!
For a taste treat add 1/4 cup rum, whiskey or brandy to the sauce. |

| Ingredients |
| 1/2 cup packed brown sugar |
2 tbsp corn syrup Karo |
| 1/4 cup butter |
1/2 cup heavy cream or evaporated milk |
| 1 1/2 tsp vanilla |

| Directions |
| Combine in a saucepan, the brown sugar, corn syrup, butter and cream. Bring to boil over medium heat stirring constantly. Reduce to medium low and let the mixture boil for 5 minutes. Add the vanilla, stir into the mixture and remove from heat. Sauce will thicken as it cools. For a taste variety add 1/4 cup rum, whiskey or brandy to the sauce. Serve over your favorite dessert. |
