Pecan Pie BarsJane Hebert's Recipe Box
From Eagle Brand, a perfect recipe for holidays and family fun. Note in the recipe box had a date of September 28, 1986. From Google's history, A record 23,000 runners start in a marathon race in Mexico City; maybe they were running to get a pecan pie bar.

Old Glory Ice Cream (Grand Champion Recipe)Corona Romero for her friend and winner Suzanne Meaux
Grand Champion, Peoples Choice and First Place in the Big Dippers category. Suzanne Meaux won on July 8th the first ever Ice Cream Freeze Off held in Lafayette, LA. This is the first time the state has ever had this competition. They had various entries and the turn out was larger than expected. All proceeds went to the Children’s Museum. I am also attaching her recipe. She named her entry Old Glory and added Blueberries and Raspberries to bring out the red, white and blue. Have convincing from her friends to enter she was glad she did . Huge success.

Pineapple DelightBrenda Richard
A quick hot summer day treat made with pineapple. From the USDA here is a fun fact on HOW DO PINEAPPLES GROW? Most fruits develop in 3 to 4 months, but pineapples take about 18 months to grow! Pineapples are grown from the crowns or tops of other pineapples. Each crown is planted by hand. When the plants are one year old the flowering process begins. The flower bud is small and pink, and looks like a pinecone. As the bud grows it will become the fruit we know as a pineapple. Pineapples are harvested when they are ripe. Every pineapple that is harvested is ready to eat. To ensure they are picked at their peak of maturity for ripeness and flavor, the sugar content of pineapple is tested in the field.

Pecan and Pumpkin TassiesAngel
The author writes: - This recipe is asked for at every family gathering, everyone loves it and they go fast, worth the time it takes to make them. I only have one problem when I make these, my husband and kids eat almost all of them before we get to the gatherings. You will most probably have to make more than one batch, trust me! Husband and children eat them like cookies with milk.

Recipe includes picture!  Peach Glaze Parfait with Warm Whiskey SauceRuby Buchanan
Peaches and cream has a whole new meaning with this recipe! I prepared this dish for a special celebration; the invite stated "decadent peach parfait" for dessert- our guest agreed. The sauce can be used on bread pudding or fruitcake also.
