| Mom does a crab swim? As many times as I brought my children crabbing at Rockefeller Refuge, Holly Beach, and road side ditches, all I really saw was the crab "walking". According to www.NOAA.gov most crabs "walk" or run across the ocean bottom. Some, such as the commercially caught blue crab of the Atlantic coast (a member of the one family of "swimming crabs") can swim. Their rearmost pair of legs is modified for swimming and legs are paddle-shaped. Recipe adapted from the Texas Extension Service.

| While MawMaw was going thru her friend's recipe box she found this recipe and made them. Then invited that friend to dinner and served them. She was nice enough to say I made them as good as her. We both laughed and everyone enjoyed them. Make these as part of your family's Chritmas and holiday candies. Not yet rated |
| Many Cajuns grew up eating this appetizer at the Cock of the Walk Restautant on Johnston Street in Lafayette before it burned down. The restaurant seemed almost famous for this dish. Many times, the resturant's parking lot would become flooded after heavy rains and once, a Kaplan man stepped out of his car and fell immediately under water! He realized a moment too late that he had walked right into a ditch.
This is a popular recipe request; we therefore have included the recipe on this website. Posted to TNT - Prodigy's Recipe Exchange Newsletter by (ANGI L RAYCHER) on Mar 20, 1997
