Fried Gizzards Maw Maw Recipe Box Collection
From AbsoluteAstronomy - Gizzards are a popular food throughout the world. A chicken is a type of domesticated bird which is often raised as a type of poultry. Gizzards are also sold as street food. Chicken gizzards are popular food item in Potterville, Michigan, where a Gizzard Festival is held every year in June. Stewed gizzards are also eaten as a snack in Nigeria. The gizzard of a cooked chicken is traditionally set aside for the oldest or most respected male at the table. - I always wondered why my Dad always had the gizzard.
Pickled Eggs (And Beets if Wanted)Linda Thibodeaux's Collection
Fun Facts on Eggs from Fremont Farms of Iowa LLP Eggs age more in one day at room temperature than they do in a week if refrigerated. To make easy to peel hard boiled eggs, allow the fresh eggs to age for a couple of weeks in the refrigerator before boiling. The average hen will lay about 245 eggs per year. The older a hen gets, the larger her eggs become. To boil the perfect egg see the recipe Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs on this website.
Party PunchLinda Thibodeaux
Great for a baby or wedding gift shower. Did you ever think - What is the origin of baby shower, why is it called a baby shower? They are called baby showers because the party or celebration is for the BABY and we SHOWER them with gifts (baby necessities) & love. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-Birth_P... http://www.babyshower101.com/baby_shower...

Bouille (Porridge)Judy T. Mire
This bouille is an old Cajun recipe from my mother-in-law. Mine never tastes quite as good as her for some reason! You can eat this warm by itself or use it a topper for sliced angel food cake or crumbled regular cake. You can top with chocolate syrup, cherries, etc.

Flo's Pepper and Vinegar PeMonTaFlo Boutte
From Trappey's Pepper Plant in New Iberia, LA - Did you know that peppers, both hot and mild, contain an ingredient that can actually make you feel better? It's called capsaicin, and it's a natural stimulant that causes the release of endorphins. (Endorphins are the body's natural painkiller, and can create a sense of well-being, increase the heart rate and speed up metabolism.) It's no wonder that peppers can actually be habit-forming! Must be why dem Cajuns love peppers!

Lump Crab and Corn BeignetsIn Memory of my Uncle Bill Thorton
This recipe was posted on Lou Ana Cooking Oil website. Maw Maw's Uncle Bill won the original art poster contest for the 100th birthday celebration of Lou Ana Oil. What is most interesting is that Uncle Bill had a crawfish mascot also named Alfonce. How interesting when things comes full circle. MawMaw halved the recipe and still made 20 beignets.
Fried Brain MedallionsMaw Maw
Many may be turned off by the thought of this dish but this is absolutely a delicacy. Is not sucking crawfish heads considered a delicacy. Yep this sure can be debatable; we can switch the subject to Brain Quotes from http://www.saidwhat.co.uk/keywordquotes/brain A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.- Louis Nizer If little else, the brain is an educational toy. - Tom Robbins I'm no bimbo. I'm opinionated and I do have a brain... Christina Aguilera Books, the children of the brain.- Jonathan Swift (Maw Maw Favorite) Sometimes, God gives you physical talent and takes away the brain.- Mike Ditka You must capture and keep the heart of the original and supremely able man before his brain can do its best. Andrew Carnegie In the scales of the destinies, brawn will never weigh so much as brain. James Russell Lowell
